The Italian composer Giorgio Bernabò was born in Liguria but he has been living in Vicenza, in Veneto, for many years. His marked musicality has been appreciated from a very early age: at the age of eight he started studying the flute as a self-taught, he then pursued his studies with his cousin Mario Celsi and later on, with Roberto Pappalettere in Pisa. After completing his musical studies, he continued to perfect his skills with Mario Ancillotti, William Bennet, Conrad Klemm and Pierre Wavre, with whom he improved and refined his flute technique.

He has won various competitions and he has received several certificates of merit for his recognized sound quality and musical interpretation skills. He has played as a soloist with musicians such as Alan Curtis, Bruno Canino, Hans Elhorst, Giovanni Guglielmo, Pierre Wavre, Franco Mezzena and he has recorded for the Bongiovanni and Dynamic labels. He has recorded various concertos for flute and orchestra, including world premieres such as the concerto for flute and orchestra by Tomaso Albinoni. With Alan Curtis, he recorded two CDs including various sonatas by some Italian authors from the seventeenth century. This work was particularly appreciated by the US trade magazine.

He has started composing at a very young age but, much later in life, he has dedicated himself almost exclusively to the composition of different musical genres. He has composed various musicals and musical fairy tales performed by Antonella Ruggiero, Giò Di Tonno and Patrizia Laquidara. He is the author of various sacred pieces that have been performed by choirs and soloists, such as Simona Molinari, Roberta Canzian and Cheryl Porter. His Missa Liberi Populi for soprano, female choir and orchestra, together with other compositions, were performed by the professors of the Orchestra of the Accademia di Santa Cecilia in the Aula Magna of La Sapienza University in Rome. He has also composed chamber music and, in 2023, his CD entitled “Giorgio Bernabò Chamber Music Works” was released on the Davinci Classics label.

Bernabò’s chamber music, as Ruben Marzà states in the well-known Italian music magazine Amadeus, is able to find the arduous balance between tradition and modernity, as well as transparency in communication and tension towards the unknown.
